I have Windows XP Home Edition v. 2002. I unfortunitly formatted
my
desktop hard drive using my laptop (don't ask). I assume this
will be like
building a new computer if that's even possible. I don't have a
boot disk
or anything.

Luckly my MSI mother board (MS-6712 v. 1.0) reconizes my
monitor.
I have F11, DEL:Setup etc. options on my screen, however it does
not
reconize my IBM SK-8806 Keyboard. I don't know if it needes
drivers or what. I have the ability to put info on the desktop
hard drive using my laptop if I
need to.
If I am unable to access using my keyboard I assume my compter
is
junk.
Thank you for time, humbly.

From what I understand when you get to the F11, DEL Setup
options
on the screen it freezes there? You can't use the Keyboard but the
Mouse
is Ok?
Make sure your hard drive is connected correctly. Red Stripe

The screen is black and only shows my motherboard and processor info
with
keyboard options. My mouse light is on, but I can't use my mouse
until I
get
my XP operating system loaded on my blank hard drive.

I need the keyboard to do one of the following option: DEL: Setup,
F11:
boot
mode, etc. to load my operating system. Thank you for your
reply........

Although it's a possibility I really don't think this is a keyboard
problem.

It's not entirely clear (at least to me) your situation. You've
indicated
this problem began when (somehow) you formatted the HDD in your desktop
machine (the one with the problem you're describing). I assume this is
(or
was!) the HDD that contained the XP OS, wasn't it? Or is there another
HDD
in the system that's involved?

So we're dealing with an empty HDD that once contained the OS. Is that
the
situation?

If so, obviously the *only* solution is to install the XP OS onto that
HDD
(assuming there are no other hardware-type problems involved here). But
you say you do not have an XP OS installation CD. So how were you
proposing to install the OS onto that HDD even assuming you could
access
the disk?

But I may be misunderstanding your problem...
Anna

P.S.
I would guess that if you keep tapping the Delete key just as the
machine
begins its boot process you can access the motherboard's BIOS. But I
don't
know what value that would be if we're dealing here with a blank HDD
and
no OS. But again, perhaps I misunderstand your situation.

I agree with Anna, that I don't think it's a Keyboard
problem.
To have both your PS2 and USB connectors go flaky is highly
unlikely. Also, when you say you have WinXP Home Edition do
you
mean that you have the WinXP CD?

Yes, correct, the blank desktop HDD used to have my XP OS on it. I do own
a
XP OS CD.
I am thinking of hooking the blank HDD to my laptop, and uploaded a boot
disk straight to the blank HDD. Or puting a blank CD in my laptop and
create
a boot CD from my laptop to use in my desktop CD ROM. Thank you for your
ideas...

GS Mobile:
I honestly can't comprehend your proposed "plan of action", so we'll give
this one more try...

Is there any reason why you simply can't install the XP OS onto your "blank"
HDD using the XP OS installation CD? What is stopping you from simply doing
that?

Why are you considering using your laptop in this process? What has the
laptop got to do with installing the XP OS onto your desktop machine? Am I
missing something here?
