I have recently installed Windows XPSP3, and now I seem to have picked up
a Trojan which I just cannot get rid of.
It created a file in System32, called Ponan.dll.
Eset Smart Security Quarantined the virus which they report "Probably a
variant of Win32/Rootkit.Podnuha Trojan."
I tried Spybot S&D, Super ANTISPYWARE,Malwarebytes, in and out of Safe
Mode and nothing removes it.I have tried Registry Mechanic too.
If I can just establish which one of my installed programs causes it,
which includes TuneUp Utilities, Your Uninstaller, Nero9,Mozilla Firefox,
Gom Player and Winzip 12. Thats about it.
My only alternative would be to format and re-install, but then I have to
Activate Windows again, and MS is full of quenstions on a second install.
If anyone could possibly think of a remedy, kindly please advise. By the
way, I have also used MCAfee RootKit Detective, which found no Rootkit's
!

Piet
