I did tell the computer to boot from the cd by clicking escape when i turn
the computer on which takes me into boot options. from there you can then
select where you want to boot from by pressing enter. I have a DVD-RW
drive
and a DVD-ROM drive. I have tried the disc in both drives and pressed
enter
on both options of where to boot from but still get the message.

You probably need to set the system to boot to the CD.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it's not that as we haven't got
a
floppy disc drive.

If you get the "non-system disc" error message then a floppy disc
still
in the floppy drive.

Remove the floppy disk and reboot.

Hope someone can help me as I'm completely stuck. I have a hp
pavillion
desktop computer with windows xp. The other day I started my
computer
up as
usual and was faced with the message that system32 files was either
missing
or corrupt, press r at first screen or insert orginal cd. So i got
to
system
recovery and pressed r for recovery. Unfortunately this didn't work
and was
faced with the corrupt or missing message again. Somehow during
moving
house
I had lost the recovery cd which i had made so I bought a new one
specifically for my computer by going through the hp website. Put
th
cd in
the drive and asked the computer to boot from the cd but got the
message
non-system disc or disc error. I wrote to HP who told me to dowload
the
program killdisk and completely format my hard drive and then
re-insert
the
recovery cd. So i have tried all of this and I am still getting the
message
non-system disc or disc error. I now have no idea what to do. Does
anyone
have any idea of what i can try.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in advance.
