Re: slow & virtual memory low - Cause inCDsrv.exe ?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Gerry,

I have sp3 for XP

I have CCleaner that I run all the time so I did not download anything
(seams I all ready have enough problems :( with out trying to figure out
more) Hope you don’t think I really need it as I have CC.

The MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM I have gotten before and had researched it a while
back.
I use Express so don't know what wires are getting crossed there.

The InCD issues are pretty regular - for sure when I try and burn anything.
I have just gone through and burned All my home video and pictures onto
DVD's so I could delete it off my computer - hoping for room and speed. I
spent the last week doing that as besides the clean up, I wanted to keep
going while it was working...
I had issues with Nero years ago, got rid of it then needed something to
burn DVD's so bought it. I have fixed some issues, but it interferes with my
CD drive and other burning issues. I have read a little about turning it off
when you like want to backup using Acronis but haven't had time to figure it
out yet. I could not made a bootable disk, I think because of the InCD/Nero
stuff, But like I said haven’t had time to work on that issue yet.
If I just knew the Simple answer to using these burners....

I defrag a lot (like twice a week) so it was only a couple days ago - but
here is the report.

Of course you probable guessed I know nothing about what that all means??

In my life right now regarding computers, IF I could use my burners/drives
with no problem and I knew my back up had my back And my computer was Faster
(though it really is faster than some I know of) I would be a happy camper.

Awaiting your reply,
Liz

I have not replied earlier because when I skimmed your long post
yesterday I could not see an obvious cause of your problem. However,
looking again I can make a number of comments.

Event Source: Userenv reports - Is the Windows XP SP3 update installed
or are you still running SP2? This suggestion may help. Download and
install the User Profile Hive
Cleanup Service
Download details: User Profile Hive Cleanup Service
http://snipurl.com/5b61

UPHClean v1.5e readme.txt
http://snipurl.com/ko8m

Event Source: MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM reports -See Knowledge Base Article in
link that follows:

The MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM service may log event warning 19011 in the event
log when you use Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003 on Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828246

The InCD Helper service terminated unexpectedly. -How often has this
Error occured?

An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging
operation.

I would be interested in seeing a Disk Defragmenter report . Open Disk
Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and click on Save
As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents Folder and post a
copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it is more
informative.

Gerry,
I replied a couple days ago but I don't know if I actually replied or
just created another question. Since I had not heard from you thought
I should try this way.

Sorry to bother you.

How much RAM memory?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Are there any problems indicated in the System and Application logs?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer relating to the last
boot in normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please.
Indicate which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and
double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which
appears is a button resembling two pages. Click the button and close
Event Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the
body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting
from
Event Viewer.

I don't know anything about task manager -

My computer has started to run a bit slow AND got a message a couple
times about virtual memory low.

I know the inCD stuff has something to do with the Nero program or
at least with burning DVDs The task manager

shows it running a lot of stuff (page faults - I/O writes and
other) - more than other things even 10 times more

I/O other bytes (at 646,508,462 and going up as I type) than
explorer.exe (50 times more I/O write bytes 469,511)

Like I said I don't know what these numbers mean, but I am thinking
it may have something to do with speed, and possible the memory.

So my question is Can I click "end process" with out any ill
effects? (since I do not understand any of this - I don't know if
incd makes my windows run or my email or my office or or or...

Will it restart when I start my computer so I can burn DVDs if I
want?

I am afraid to ever turn anything off because my computer may not
start again -

Thanks,
