Re: Need to reinstall windows XP, but don't have disc

Susan

Faulting application tfswctrl.exe - tfswctrl.exe is an essential process
for HP's packet writing software which burns data to CD's using
Microsoft Windows explorer. Source:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/tfswctrl/
-do not download any software from uniblue.

The normal way to try to remedy the problem would be to uninstall and
reinstall through Add / Remove Programs HP's packet writing software.

Event Source: .NET Runtime -This error could well be caused by the
failed instalation of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update
with error 0x80070643: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

When you have problems with downloads from Microsoft you need to get
the Error code.

Select, Start, Help and Support, Keep your Windows up- to-date with
Windows Update, Review your Update History and click on the Failed Icon
(if any) in the Status Column.

The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout
period.

This probably refers to a DVD or CD drive, although a hard drive is not
impossible. What drives do you have? It could be resolved by
reinstalling HP's packet writing software. There are some other
possibilities in the link, which follows:
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=9&eventno=2060&source=atapi&phase=1

This problem could give you grief if you try to reinstall Windows XP if
it is a hardware problem as instanced by Wgalway in the link.

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from
the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address
000CF18D1A56.

This is the type of error that can resolve itself by restarting your
computer. You might be best served by resolving the other problems first
if this error keeps repeating.

Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 71.224.8.206 on the
Network Card with network address 000CF18D1A56

This is the type of error that can resolve itself by restarting your
computer. You might be best served by resolving the other problems first
if this error keeps repeating.

The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error: The
system cannot find the file specified.

This error relates to a Creative Labs sound card. Does it work? Have you
made changes. Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager?
Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select
Properties, Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error
code?

It is not worth spending on Event ID:29. It has no real impact on
anything.

In your Disk Defragmenter Report this line has me puzzled? "Volume local
disc (C:) (F:)" It should either refer to Volume C or Volume F. Not
both! Normally the system volume is C. It is unusual to get anything
other than C. However, the details from System Information also refer to
F!

Please check how you drive(s) are partitioned in Disk Management. Start,
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk
Management.

You say you have 2 gb of RAM. The System Information report, however,
says only 1 gb of RAM. Either you are mistaken or your system is not
recognising some of your memory. The system could be pushing RAM to
it's limits and resorting to the pagefile. This could be slowing things.

Thanks for your input everyone. You are so much help. I think I
know when the problem started. I installed reg cure about a year ago
because my computer was getting very slow. It really sped things up,
but that seems to be when the trouble started. I could no longer
access my remote access site for my job. That was the first
indication. I was also no longer able to download the software
needed to access this site. I really didn't see any other problems
other than that.

Then, about 4 months ago, I sent an ecard. When I did that, I guess
part of the agreement (which of course I didn't bother reading) was
downloading and installing incredimail software. My computer was
almost impossible to use after that. I uninstalled the software, but
it's still there. It keeps asking me to reinstall.

I think that's probably the biggest part of my problem, but of
course, I'm no expert so I can't be sure.

Gerry, in response to your request, I think this is the info you
wanted. I posted my application and system errors, my defrag report.

Hi,

I need to reinstall windows becuase my computer is just really slow
and I can't install new programs. I can't use many of my already
installed programs anymore either. I've tried a system restore, but
I can't go back far enough in time to before this all started.

I no longer have my windows XP installation disc that came with my
Dell Computer. Does anyone know of any other way to handle this? I
don't know if I can download and install windows to a CD and
reinstall to my computer?? I'm afraid to try because I don't want to
mess anything up. I'm not exactly a whiz at this type of thing. I
get around very well, when I run into problems, I'm stuck!!

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate your help!
Thanks!!!
