After reformatting the C drive on a laptop I can not connect to the
internet. When I connect the laptop to my internet access point the
network connection shows no packets going in or out.
No drivers installed.
I have tried to repair the internet connection and get the error that
TCP/IP is not authorized on the computer.
More likely "not installed"?
I have checked the network adapter and the 1394 Network adapter is
installed and working.
That's the FireWire port. It's not an Ethernet port. Yes, Firewire ports
are used for networking, but not the way you want.
The version is current as far as I can tell by
searching on line.
I do not have the disks that came with the computer. It was in bad
shape and I am trying to rebuild all the software to make it useable.
You need to start with identifying the precise system model and then go to
the manufacturer's site and download the drivers from another system. Burn
them to CD and then use them to install the Ethernet card and driver support
and video support. Then you can get online and get the rest of them.

I am trying to connect to the internet to update drivers and run
windows update, but I can't get past this point..
