Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

This has just happened recently, and I can't think of anything I've done to
cause this to happen... 1 exception: the other day I came home for lunch, and
when I came back after work, my computer had been restarted... not like a
non-use lockout... restarted... as if my computer had installed something and
shutdown on it's own. Since then, my optical drives do not work. I have a DVD
burner (EMPREX DVD-RW 16x IDE) and a CD burner (LG HL-DT-ST-CD-RW GCE 8240B).
The drives show up in my device manager, but upon inserting any media, nothin
happens. At the least there should be a Windows dialog box asking me wat I
want to do with the media just inserted... no autorun for games...NOTHING!!!
What to do?

If U always do what you always did...
you'll always get what you always got!

Disable your Anti-virus then restart in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 on start
Up until you get the Boot up options and select Safe Mode.

In safe Mode click Start >> All programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >>
Ssytem Restore and pick up a Restore point to restore your system.
It will do the reboot and the rstore will procedure pay attention to it and
see if it was successful or not.
Do n't forget to Enable your Anti-virus after a successful Restore and
hopefully it will also resolved your problem.

Yoyr machine may be installed a new updates and rebooted by itself and the
Installation wasn't a success!
