Starts to log in, then auotmatically logs off

I used Spybot yesterday and now when I login, to any account, it starts to
load preferences and then automatically logs off.

I've tried booting in "safe mode" and "safe mode with last known good
settings" but it still loads XP with the same results. Booting from
cd-rom hasn't worked either (including after changing the boot
sequence)...doesn't seem to recognize the cd-rom.

This is a Dell computer with pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition, updated
to SP3.

Any ideas?
