I have the same problem. I am not sure how to fix it yet. To get around it,.
after clicking OK to get to a blank desktop, I use the Ctr-Alt-Del to bring
up the Windows Task Manager, click New Task, type Desktop and click OK. That
brings back my desktop with task bars and shortcuts.
Hope this helps. If anyone know how to fix the problem permanently, greatly
appreciate your input.
