integrating the sp2 can
only be done one way
which is the right way.
it will be bootable and
fully functional because
that is the way microsoft
engineered it to be:

I have computer that came
with XP SP1. I recently had
to do a repair installation
(Boss caught a virus). I
re-installed all updates
except Sp3. But, when I tried
to install IE7, it said some
of the system files were not
correct and needed to be
replaced. And I had to
insert my XP SP2 CD. I don't
have one. Is there a way to
use another PC with SP2 to
make a CD good enough for
this purpose?
Now I DO NOT want a CD good
enough to do an
installation. I don't use
pirated software (not any
more, since I can now afford
to buy it if really need
it). If nothing else, my
work CD keys are only good
for SP1 or as Upgrade and my
home XP CD only has SP1.
All I want to know is, can I
copy the files from say the
i386 folder (as an example)
on a good PC and use that
when the other PC asks for
the SP2 CD? I don't know
what files are the problem
so I can't just copy those,
and it doesn't allow me to
Browse the hard drive, so I
have to get the files fom
another PC.
Thanks.
