Re: Help - Windows XP will no longer recognise Nvdia Drivers

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Good boot in Safe Mode - no normal boot - indicates a driver - as you
already know.

System restore may have failed to completely "remove" the game update or
undo changes.
Regarding ".. .will run 'normally' using the generic video drivers on the
motherboard...." - is this with the monitor plugged into the VGA port on
the system board or into the card port with NVIDIA drivers uninstalled?

Function using the card port (will use XP drivers) clears the card.

ave you downloaded drivers from NVIDIA site?

After downloading game up date my sons computer failed work correctly so
he
used system restore - but after that it has failed to restart.
It went through the re-start process - but with a 'stripy' effect on the
start up screens - and at the point windows should actually open switched
itself off.
Restarting it in safe mode seemed to indicate a video/graphics card
probelms
- so we reinstalled the drivers. But it still won't work!
If we uninstall the drivers (Nvdia) the computer will run 'normally' using
the generic video drivers on the motherboard.
But as soon as we reinstall the drivers it will only start in safe mode.
We've checked the video card is correctly installed.
Does this mean the video card has packed up? Can it be repaired?
Someone has suggested that the download may have messed up some windows
registry files - how would I fix this.?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated as without his games my son is
driving me mad?
