OT Re: Blinking screen !

I have to side with the person you've chosen to make your adversary
here, although I side against him also. Instead of playing
wanna-be-troll, you two should stick to giving information relevant to
the OP's post or go away and quit memorializing your stupidity and egos
in the Google et al archives for all posterity to see.
You're both more interested in power-plays and ego-displays than you
are helping anyone. All it'll get you is ignored and complete loss of
credibility.
You don't have to go away mad, just go away.

I repeat, you are as helpful as a rubber crutch. Valid
suggestion????? I don't need a license to criticize
ridiculous suggestions. Like I asked before, do you replace the
battery if your car won't start?
You don't work at being obnoxious, you are obnoxious.

Do you work at being obnoxious or does it come naturally? What I
suggested would cost OP absolutely NOTHING and it will definitely
rule out or confirm a suspected hardware
problem with very little time invested. Just because you don't
agree with my valid suggestion does not give you a license to start
taking potshots at me. Concentrate on giving your own advice and
give people the opportunity to get more than one point of view.

You have no diagnostic ability? Do you try a new battery if your car
won't start?
Switching parts without getting other info is absolutely ridiculous.
I had an auto dealer wanting to switch parts because my cruise
control didn't work. He quoted $650.
Use common sense when troubleshooting.

Nearly everyone I know has a computer monitor--why should I expect
something different in OP's case? Even if he lives on a farm, so
what--he has neighbors. Besides, he is not obligated to take our
advice if it is too much trouble to try it. Switching hardware
parts is a valid method of troubleshooting and its simple. And it
is what I start with before I start looking for complex software
explanations. --

On this problem you and Bruce are as helpful as a rubber crutch.
You have no idea whether or not another monitor is available.
Perhaps the OP lives on a farm.
Why not get more info, such as does it occur with only the desktop
displayed (nothing running). What does the start folder
show in msconfig? What does task manager---processes show.

You can start by trying your monitor on a different computer and
a different monitor on your computer.

Hi all,
All of a sudden the screen on my monitor has started to blink,
ie, the
screen goes black for about 2 seconds every 6 seconds. then the
screen comes
back to normal. I can continue to work on the pc etc, but it is
driving me
mad. I think it started when I was on the internet, and I
thought that I
might have got a virus or something nasty, but I have scaned
with Norton and
with a program from Microsoft, but they both said there was
nothing nasty
found.
Can anyone give me a clue as to why this is happening and even
better how I
might get rid of it please. Thanks a lot.
