Then why I can't post or reply through OE? I get no error when I post or
reply but they just don't appear.

It's difficult for me to answer that without seeing your system, but
clearly you have some setting or settings wrong.

Perhaps someone else can suggest what it might be.

Do I always need to have a valid login for MS NNTP?

For msnews.microsoft.com? No, no login is required.

If I could just ask a question, I'll let David follow up. But I'm curious!

Can I ask why you have multiple accounts? (NNTP servers).
You technically only need one, your ISP. If they don't carry all of
msnews.microsoft.com groups then you can make a 2nd for that reason.
But 2 tops.

This is not necessarily true. Two is not tops, by any means. I, for
example, use *five* different news servers. One is provided by my ISP.
One is the Microsoft public server, msnews.microsoft.com, which I use
for these Microsoft news groups; although my ISP's server carries many
of these newsgroups too, it's faster and better to get them directly
from Microsoft. The other three are private servers that carry
newsgroups not available elsewhere.

Also note that the statement "You technically only need one, your ISP"
assumes that the ISP in question even provides a news server. That's
not always the case, and many people don't have that option. Even if
the ISP does provide a news server, it may be limited in some way
(such as how many or which newsgroups it provides) and many people
prefer to use a different server (even one they have to pay for)
instead.
