I am frustrated with antivirus software in general. Why do I keep
getting polluted with viruses/spyware when I have antivirus software
running? I have used Norton, PC Doctor, AVG, Adaware, and others. I
faithfully scan for visruses and spyware and yet eventually my PC gets
polluted every year or so and I end up rebuilding it again and again.
Why does this keep happening?

I've been working with computers, thousands of them, for more than 30
years and have never had a virus/malware on ANY computer that I own or
manage.

In the old days I used Norton, in the last 10+ years I use Symantec
Corporate Edition software, I've used all others on the market during
those years also, but I stick with Symantec Corp Ed.

A good reason for being compromised is your not paying attention to the
best practices for using a Windows Computer. If you would follow the
standards that Microsoft has published for more than a decade you would
not get compromised.

The first and most common reason for getting compromised is that users
run as a local administrator level account.

Second reason is that they don't patch their systems

Third reason is that they don't put a barrier device between their
computer and the internet

Fourth is that they visit sites/email they should not really be going to
in the first place and they install malware from those sites.
