In the future, although trimming is generally good, don't trim out the
*entire* context. I have reconstructed this portion of the thread for
the benefit of others who may not have been following it.

I was in the middle of a very important project requiring a PC. All
of a sudden, I find that I can't connect to the internet. This is
really bad. I need this fixed immediately.

My windows xp is not wireless, so I checked the cables. The computer
is connected to the router, and the router obviously works because I
can access the computer from this mac. I looked at "Network
Connections" and it looks like it's connected. One of the connections
says:

Local Area Connection
Connected, Firewalled
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Ad

I even connected the computer directly to the modem. I still had no
luck. Any ideas? Again, this is urgent. Please help me.

Be sure to put a space between ipconfig and the /all.

The response should be a listing of your IP address
your physical address (MAC address)
Your subnet mask address
Your default gateway address
Your DSN server address
Your DHCP address

No. It's supposed to be ipconfig/all. There's no space.

Actually, "IPCONFIG /ALL" works just fine, always has.

OK. I really don't care honestly. I just NEED my computer online ASAP.
It's really important.

I tried the Winsock repair thing. Now, when the computer boots up, it
says "Invalid system disk
Replace disk, and then press any key"

What should I do? If my computer it broken, I don't care as long as my
files can be recovered. I'm not going to sue you. :D

..now if my files are gone, that's a whole other situation...........

and again:
This is not good. I can't open any files. When I try to open
something, I get a message saying "Not enough quota is available to
process this command." Furthermore, when I open My Computer, the
drives do not have titles.

Leythos's warning unfortunately showed up too late. The "tool" you
downloaded and installed seems to have caused even more damage. In the
future, be wary of downloading and installing files from untrusted
sources. If you're not sure, just wait. If the consensus in this group
is to go ahead, you're probably safe. Otherwise, you're taking chances.

For the time being, try uninstalling the "tool" in Safe Mode. And try
using System Restore. But I'm afraid you might wind up needing to
aggressively scan your PC for malware now.
