svchost.exe taking up nearly 100% of cpu

Lately my PC has been slowed down greatly after 5 or so minutes after start
up by what appears to be a process called svchost.exe, which is taking up
almost 100% of my CPU making everything else nearly impossible to do. I
downloaded the Process Explorer to find out which one it was and it's this
one:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
Sometimes after many reboots it stops doing this, or if I sometimes even
kill the process, but this has become very frustrating. Any and all help is
appreciated.
Please not that you will have to tell me step by step what to do, since I'm
not as computer savvy as some of you tech support people. ;)
