When I boot up my gateway GT5228 pc xp pro keeps saying that it found new
hardware - when I look in the device manager it has a ? in the item Other
Devices - both the multimedia controller and the multimedia video
controller. If I let the computer search for the drivers, it finds none. I
have Nvidia GeForce 6100 and it shows up under display adapter; network
adapters shows Nvidia nForce networking controller; and Nvidia Network bus
enumerator; under Sound video and game controllers - I have audio codecs,
legacy aduio/video/; Media Control Devices, RRealteck High Def Audio and
video codecs (as well as 4 instances of Tunebite high-speed dubbing).

I've tried contacting gateway and they have been no help so far - I've
googled Nvidia thinking that the Other Device problem must be related to
that - downloaded and updated a GeForce 6100 update, but it still says it
finds new hardware each time I boot up. Can anyone help me figure out what
this Other Device is and how to fix it? After I click on cancel the search,
it says the hardware wasn't installed properly and may not work correctly -
but I don't really see any problems?

thanks

Did you uninstall a program just before this started ?
