Re: user loses mapped home directory

We have the same issues. Could this be a bug in a recent patch. seems we did
not start seeing this issue untill the last 2 months.

We have almost the exact same problem. Users have a "home folder" set in
their AD properties. Mapping a drive letter to a \\server\users\username
location. The server is running fully patched Windows Storage Server 2003
SP2: new Dell box with plenty of memory, horsepower, and space. Most
workstations are fully patched XP SP2.

We map other drives through a logon script. The problems are very
sporadic... home would simply map to "users" rather then to "users\username"
-- generally if they logoff and logon the mapping is corrected, but sometimes
the mapping will "break" during a user's session... randomly change from a
working "users\username" to "users" and cause them problems (unable to save,
etc.)...

This morning I added an "\\server\user\%username%" entry to a different
drive letter from the logon script. I'm going to see if that is anymore
reliable then the "home folder" has been.

Yes it is. And it maps correctly. But a few days later all they go to log in
and they are only mapped to the main folder. They can sometimes log off and
back on and it will correct its self but sometimes they have to right click
and select disconnect then log off and back on. I have a similar folder for
the students and have all the students inside of it but permissons set so
they can only access their folder inside.

| I have 250 workstations connected to a Windows 2003 server domain with Active
| directory. Sometimes when users log in to the system, they lose their home
| directory which I have set up for them in a folder titled staff. When they
| lose the connection their path reverts to the staff folder instead of their
| home folder. I set up the home dirictory in their profiles, I do not have
| them in log in scripts. Does anyone out there have a resolution to this
| problem. It does not appear to be switch related the disconnects are random.
| I can remap the drive and it will connect back to their folder.

Is this property set in the User Account on the Domain ?
