Thank you very much Mark. What I originally posted represents the width and
breadth of my technical savvy (as scary as that sounds) but I printed your
instructions and the 2 pages you directed me to, and will try to work it out.
Many thanks. What a great resource this is.
Best,
Lynn

Create a new profile and copy from the old one. If you change the password
of this 'Default User' of yours, you are going to mess up your ownership in
any case. If you have 'encrypted' data, you are going to need to hack the
password, not a step to take lightly.

I added a Netgear wireless adapter to my HP last night.
It runs Windows XP Media Edition.
Later I rebooted.
When the computer came back on, it came back as HP_Administrator, and
asked
for the password which of course I don't know.
It will not let me log on as Default User without a password.
I can log on as Administrator without a password, but none of my
favorites/homepage/etc. are there, it's like I'm using the computer for
the
first time.
Any idea what happened and how I can log on as myself again?
Thanks,
Lynn
