Re: Event Error 32003 IPNATHLP & KB 293497

Mark, Thank you so very much for your Help. Sorry for the delay but I had
to postpone continuing.

Before my questions I want to show u this
Warning Dhcp Event 1007 which appears periodically. It may help u
diagnose the problem.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Dhcp
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1007
Date: 04-Apr-08
Time: 11:25:35 PM
User: N/A
Computer: NOTEBOOK
Description:
Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network
Card with network address 0020E08F97C4. The IP address being used is
169.254.25.151.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 ............

Mark Note the IP Address being used is: 169.254.25.151
whereas my IP Address on the Laptop is: 192.168.100.100.
I bought this IBM ThinkPad from a friend - this wasn't the address being
used.
In case it's relative, Friend was using Cable. I'm using DSL.
My Desktop & Laptop are Wireless Networked using the program, "Pure Network
Magic".
Internet access is slower on the laptop vs the desktop but the laptop is 4/5
yrs old. Also I've changed from Cable using a Linksys Router to DSL using a
SIEMANS Speedstream 6520 Wireless ADSL Gateway. The change could be the
reason I'm getting these errors.

Results of Your Suggestions:
1. Ping: Immediate response on both computers - Recvd 4 of 4.

2. I entered http://192.168.100.254 in the Address Bar ... Result: A
Window asking for User Name & Password which I completed and clicked on OK -

"The Login Failed. Check your Password and make sure it's typed in
correctly. Access Permission is currently Denied".

I tried a few times always with the same results. What would be the reason
it was unsuccessful? Is this a common occurrence?

3. Clone the MAC address ...
I'm presuming a Window would have appeared showing what is called a "Mac
Address"? I've Searched but have yet to learn how to "Clone" the MAC address.
Would u explain pls in case I may gain Access at a later date.

4. Reset the WAN Connection then Restart the Router. Presume this means
to switch the DSL Router OFF for a minute then back ON.

Your last suggestion: ... ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew
seems simple but I won't try it unless u instruct to do so. There must be a
reason it was your last suggestion. …

Your Subnet mask is fine.
You should start by opening a command prompt on each machine, and do a ping
of the default gateway.:
ping 192.168.100.254

If both don't timeout, Open the gateway config app:
http://192.168.100.254
You probably have something wrong in the WAN configuration. Clone the Mac
address, and reset the WAN connection, then restart the gateway(router or
switch)

If no help, on each machine try a prompt command:
ipconfig /release
then:
ipconfig /renew
