I just installed the latest version of my audio driver, and now my
audio performance is much improved over what it was previously, but it
still has problems. Whenever I put my computer to work on a resource
intensive task, the audio starts to chatter and slow down, as though
the audio driver's priority isn't set high enough to keep it executing
ahead of other apps competing for resources.
I've also been getting an error message every time I boot up,
suggesting that HKCMD, whatever that is, isn't loading properly, or at
all. Could the improper HKCMD load be causing my audio problems?

Hmmm. For some reason, I thought that HKCMD was some kind of an
audio/video manager. What could it have been that I was thinking of?
