First you have to logon to the Administrator account and that depends on
what
version of XP you have installed.
For Home Edition, boot into safe mode and then click on Administrator--it
should have a blank password.
For Pro, hit the Ctrl-alt-del key combo twice at the Welcome screen to bring
up the Administrator account--also a blank password.
Once signed in, go to control panel, User Accounts, and get rid of the
password.

Last night, a dialog box appeared that indicated that Windows detected a
corrupt file, and that I should run the CHKDSK utility. I either clicked
OK,
and the system started re-booting, or I may have restarted the computer
after
clicking OK. Regardless, after a series of delete and repair messages,
the
logon screen showed up, but regardless of which icon I now click on, it
now
requests a password. We never established any passwords since this is our
home computer, and we have been using it for three or four years. At this
point, we are totally locked out of our computer. How do we eliminate the
password requirement?
