Re: External Monitor Challenges

I have a 128 meg Geforce video card in my Dell look at the Dell m6300
and you will see a 512 Meg professional GeForce video card... for
external monitors. Mine works great on a 15 inch monitor going to try
it on a 32 lcd at Circuit City when I get the $1k to buy one... Dont
buy a Element lcd as it ghosts up just looking 2 feet below it looking
up the 26" too so I would not trust the Element 32" even at $545 half
the price of the Sony 32". But will have to test my 128 video card in
Circuit City might need the 512 meg video card to run a 32 inch lcd.

No, I don't see any obvious reason sound should fail for using a second

Thanks.  This seems to shut down the LCD.

Since posting, I have also realized I don't get any sound any more.  If I
work off the LCD, I get sound; but if I work off the external monitor, no
sound.  Any idea why that would be the case?

Thanks again.

Device Manager should list both monitors, and the LCD properties will
make a
'disable' option available. (start run, type: devmgmt.msc)

Recently bought new laptop; looking to use old laptop as "desktop" but
trying
to use external monitor in lieu of LCD.  Currently doing so via "clone"
mode;
toggle FN F7.

1. Any way I can set the external as the default and thereby not employ
the
LCD at all?

2. Performance has worsened.  Applications respond more slowly; hanging
is
more frequent.  The only change has been the use of the external
monitor.
Any chance that's related and if so, how might the issue be resolved?

Thanks in advance folks.- Hide quoted text -
