Re: shutdown problem

When installed the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service helps with
programmes not closing in a timely manner when you shutdown your
computer. You will see nothing other than two information reports in
Event Viewer recording it's activity. If you do not look in Event Viewer
you will see nothing.

Installing the the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service will not solve all
shutdown problems. Earlier I provided this link:
http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm which contains tips for
troublshooting shutdown problems. Do you still have the original
problem?

Have you inspected the System log in Event Viewer? Are there any Warning
or Error Reports since you installed the User Profile Hive Cleanup
Service

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hi Brian: I checked the bios for "start on" items but didn't see
anything that said start or on but i set it to default setting and
exited. It will not shutdown even with the task manager only way to
shut it off is with power button on tower, any other suggestions?

Check the BIOS for any "Start on" options that may be enabled and
disable them.
