Is there a registry entry, or third party app, or some other means to
keep font smoothing WITHOUT sub-pixel hinting?

What's wrong with:

1. RMB on the desktop
2. Properties
3. Appearance Tab
4. Effects...
5. Use the following method to smooth...
6. Ensure you don't select "ClearType"

That turns off Cleartype... Not what I want.
