I'm trying to upgrade windows 2000 to Windows XP I have made it all the way
to the fourth option installing progams (36min remaining) and the computer is
asking for file 'e100b325.sys on Intel Pro Adapter CD-ROM. The computer
freeses up the mouse and the keyboard too. What can i do to reapir this
problem?
Because the upgrade is now running the new version of Windows which detects the driver for the hardware is inappropriate and wants you to point at where is the .sys file for that network card. You'll have to go find the CD for the Intel NIC (or get it onto floppy or CD using another host to download from Intel's web site).
Doesn't the install or ignore let you cancel the request for the driver? If so, cancel and continue the upgrade. Then you will have to later update the driver for the Intel NIC (network interface card) by using the CD that came with it or download the driver(s) for that hardware from Intel's web site.
If the keyboard freeze occurs at the time the upgrade process is requesting the Intel driver, you'll have to eliminate that hardware to re-perform the upgrade without that hardware present. It is odd that a request for a NIC driver would freeze the keyboard. After the upgrade completes without the hardware present, add the hardware. Then when Windows loads, it should detect the new hardware at which time you can install the new driver for it. It the hardware is not detected when Windows starts, go into Device Manager and rescan for hardware (Action menu, or right-click on the root node of the tree list).
