Problems accessing site

Hi Everyone :)

I have been having this problem for quite awhile now and I have done
everything that was provided for me by the people who tried to help. Which
was; clearing cookies and cache, checking browser settings, going to
Microsoft help topics, reinstalling IE browser .. etc.. but so far I just
don't know what to do now based on what I've done so far. :(

My issue is that I can't access or go into lets just say .. "www.ebay.com"
and "www.amazon.com", so far that is the only 2 websites that I'm having
troubles going in. Firewall, I checked as well and its in allow mode.

When I do type the URL in address bar I get this in IE 7:
"http://search.live.com/results.aspx?FORM=DNSAS&q=ebay.com"; ---Redirects me
to this and I'd have to click on the different ebay links provided. Then....
When I click on the "ebay link" this appears.... "Internet Explorer cannot
display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address. "

When I type in URL on Mozilla Firefox this appears:

"Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ebay.com.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in
a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy,
make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

Why is this happening? I don't seem to be having any problems with my
connection or whatsoever, and I don't have a virus in system. I have Windows
Defender and AVG only running in pc.

So it's really hard for me to figure out what seems to be doing it.

I have WinXP Home Edition Service Pack 2.

Any smart people out there who can help? I would really appreciate it. I've
been having this problem for 3 weeks now, I contacted Comcast about it but
they were no help. So yea. :)

Thanks!
.
