Try HD Tune(freeware) as you can see the SMART
information relating to the drive etc.
Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/
Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.
Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Make sure you do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.

Hope this helps.

Hi! I'm getting "One of your disks need to be checked for consistency"
message everytime i load my notebook, this jumps out when loading
windows XP.
Then goes "Checking file system on D:....." ....NTFS...
0KB in bed sectors, i really don't know what other information is
relevant, i always thought bad sectors are the most important for
recognizing the problem.
Harddisk is Samsung HM080JI (80GB) and divided into three partitions.
I noticed the problem when my notebook turned off several times in a
row due to a problem with an electrical contact which i have on this
laptop.
Would really be appreciated for your help!
