Re: Download Won't Open

Hi,

Today I discovered I had a problem with my computer. It is Windows
XP(Home) SP2, with plenty of HHD space and my RAM is maxed out,
1.5GB.

The project I am trying to accomplish is - I have Acronis True
Image 9.0 on disk and it is Bootable. The program has an update and
I wanted to combine the program with its update and burn it to
another disk that would be Bootable. I was trying to accomplish
this with a burning suite named Ashampoo 7 without success (Making
Coasters). After contacting Acronis support they suggested another
program (http://www.nu2.nu/bbie/) to extract the boot image from
version 9.0 to make the new combined CD bootable. That is when I
discovered the suggested download would not open/install. I
downloaded the program, unzipped it with WinZip and double clicked
it to install. An info screen popp'd up asking if I wanted to run
the program, I clicked yes, there was a quick black flash of a dos
box, then nothing. I tried to open some other zipped programs I
had previously downloaded and some did and others did not
open/install. I could not determine if those failing were due to
already being installed. Those failing did give the quick black
flash of a dos box, then nothing.

Has anyone else at sometime or another found this behavior when
attempting to install a download?

Any pointers to things to check would be appreciated. Once I post
this I will run SFC /SCANNOW.

uhm...
You should read the instructions for the applications you download. BBIE is
a command line utility. ;-)
