Not only will that not work, for the reasons given in the other post, but
the windows key on your Laptop may not work with the version of windows you
have installed.
Did not tosh supply you with recovery disks?

My Toshiba laptop hard drive failed. Formatted a new drive bootable and
all files including WinXP Professional from my PC using Western Digital
Lifeguard Tools and installed completed drive into my laptop but it will
not startup, not even Safe Mode. Are hard drives formatted and bootable
from PC compatible with running Laptops?
