How did you come to have Creative diagnostics Agent installed. It's a
new tool to me.

You still have not answered this question.

Your memory peak is large. You should be able to gather more
information from Task Manager. With the Processes tab open select
View, Select, Columns and check the boxes before Peak Memory Usage
and Virtual Memory size. What are the figures for the 6 processes
using the largest amounts? You need to name the processes and supply
the corresponding figures

Originally you had two problems. A slow start up and an inability to
use System Restore to go back to an earlier point in time. It seems
to me that Norton Anti-Virus 2007 could be responsible for both
problems.

Norton requires lots of resources in terms of memory and CPU
capacity to run effectively. Many users have dumped it for this
reason. When you boot your computer most anti-virus programmes
automatically scan. Check your Norton to see when it is scheduled to
automatically scan. If it only scans automatically on a daily basis
then change the timing to a more convenient time. Also you can test
the impact of an automatic scan by rebooting after an automatic scan
has occurred and see if it boots in a significantly shorter time.

Another feature of Norton is that it prevents registry changes which
System Restore tries to implement when you try to restore to an
earlier time. You need to turn off this Norton feature when using
System Restore to go back to earlier registry settings.

However, I do not think using System Restore to resolve a slow boot
problem was the correct solution given what we now know about your
system.

What are your anti-spyware arrangements? What firewall are you using?

It is likely that an allocation of 12% has been made to System
Restore on your C partition which is over generous. I would reduce
it to 700 mb. Right click your My Computer icon on the Desktop and
select System Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select
Settings but this time find the slider and drag it to the left
until it reads 700 mb and exit. When you get to the Settings
screen click on Apply and OK and exit.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp
to Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk
CleanUp, More Options, System Restore and remove all but the
latest System Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

What version of Norton and what version of Zone Alarm do you have?
