Re: Help!!! On Reinstalling or Repairing Windows XP MCE 2006

Thanks DL,

I did everything you advised and tried to run Scannow. Unfortunately it
asked me for Disk 2 of Windows XP which I don't have since Sony put the OS
system on my hard drive. I checked on this issue in the MS Knowledge base
and they knew about it and suggested I change the registry. No thanks, I'm a
novice at this. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Sony today and their only
solution was to Reinstall. I already knew that so they weren't any help. It
looks like my only recourse is to Reformat and reinstall.

Many thanks again and I appreciate all the time you spent helping me out.
My brother is an executive chef in Boston and if you lived anywhere near
there I'd tell you and your wife/girlfriend to go there for a great meal and
a great bottle of wine.

With appreciation
--
Robert

Try uninstalling Norton and AVG, you may have to use the manual uninstall
procedure detailed on symantec site
(Disconnect your internet if concerned, unless you are connected via nat
router)
If you have other malaware apps, which it appears you may have, uninstall
these also.

Run the system file checker, scanow, see win help for syntax

Thanks to Nepatsfan I copied the event viewer errors from Jan. 15 to Jan.
17
which is when the problems occurred. I have no idea what to make of them
but
maybe you can. There may be a common denominator to these problems but
I'm
not experienced enough to recognize them.

One error message I did get that I didn't include was "The exception
unknown
software exception (oxc000000d) ocurred in the application at location
0x6b18a27b. After a thorough search on Google and MS Knowledge Base only
came up with 2 references in Japanese but neither had any solution.
