Access Denied error

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

I running XP Pro SP2. I am the administrator and sole user of the computer
in question. When I run, and make changes, via the msconfig command, I get
the System Configuration error message:

An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service.
You may need to log on using a Administrator account to make the specified
changes.

In spite if that message, the changes are actually performed. But that's not
the problem I'm concern with. I can install IIS okay, but IIS fails to load
support services for .asp and .aspx web extension files. I think the two
problems are related. I talk with a Microsoft IIS expert... and he sees no
reason why IIS is failing. I did not mention the msconfig problem to him.

The system was installed with all the default configurations settings. Is
there a XP Pro non-default setting I'm missing?
