Re: Copy Music Files to CD

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I appreciate the link. Curiously, the kb article says:
To copy files and folders to a CD:
1. Insert a blank writable CD into the CD recorder. [This opens WMP.]
2. Double-click My Computer, and then click the files or folders that you
want to copy to the CD. [When I double click My Computer, I get a window
showing my hard drive and my CD/DVD drives. Is this a mistake? Should I not
open Windows Explorer instead, or am I mis-reading it?]
Our self-created music files are in Windows Explorer, not in WMP.
I've figured out that if I select "Copy to audio CD," I get a burn list in
WMP. This will "convert" the files and create a "playable" CD.
But I only want to copy the files to a data CD as backup, so if I select
"Copy these files," I can then select the CD drive from the list that
follows, and copy them just as I would Word documents.
Also, your suggestion of right-click and Send To works just fine.
Thanks very much.

Select the files you want, right-click on them and choose "Send To", and
click the CD/DVD-RW drive.

I know how to burn playable CDs, but I would like to simply copy the .wma
files to a CD (as a backup).
What is the procedure in this case?
