If you can (could) disable the service in the Recovery Console that should have taken care of it. Did you follow Nass' advice and check to see if this thing could be disabled or turned off in the BIOS?

Other than that, if you still have the parallel installation (on your other partition) you can access the registry of the broken installation from the working parallel installation and delete the service key(s) associated with the service, they will/should be in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSetnnn\Services branch. You should remove it from all the ControlSetnnn keys, (ControlSet001, ControlSet002, ControlSet003...) Once again, I have never tried this with an installation in progress so I can't say if this will work, the only way to find out is try it and see what happens.

Launch the Recovery Console and see if it can access the Windows installation in progress. If it can issue the LISTSVC command and see if it returns anything for the "Enhanced Display Driver Helper Service", keep in mind that the services name will probably be an abbreviated name or acronym of sorts. As I said, I'm not sure how the commands will be handled on an installation in progress but I think it's worth a shot, this might be a service set to start that the Windows setup program cannot turn off or deal with, disabling it via the Recovery Console might do the trick and allow the installation to continue.

The "hang at 34 minutes" is a well known hardware related issue. When you install the operating system you should have no external hardware connected to the computer other than the keyboard, mouse and monitor. Disconnect all other devices such as printers, USB drives, joysticks, etc and try installing again. If you have no external devices sometimes removing, moving to different slots or reseating PCI cards cures the problem.
