Previous versions of Windows (...95, ...98, ...ME, etc.) made a small
sound (like a beep) when I changed between regular upper and lower case
typing and all upper case. The current version (XP with SP 2) does not
make the sound. Since I am not a very good typist I'd like the sound so I
can prevent those mistyping errors - in non Microsoft Word (or equivalent)
programs.
Where would I find such a file?

To turn on this option, first go to Control Panel and click on the
Accessibility Options icon. On the keyboard tab, check the box next to "Use
Toggle Keys",
click OK and you are done. Now try the caps key.
