File share slow

I've two XP Pro (SP2) machines on a gigabit network. Sharing a folder on one and mapping it on the other, then copying a 5 GB file takes forever.

Machines are dual booted and bringing up OpenSolaris on both and using NFS then the same file is copied within a few minutes.

So, what can be the reason that the XP share is so slow?
