Re: Problems on bootup

Bob

The lack of a Windows XP CD takes the possibilities of doing a Repair
Install and running System File Checker.

Have you backed up all important data files?

You have had System Restore set to monitor all drives but it should only
be monitoring your system (windows) C partition. You have had two errors
reporting failure on your second drive. You should check that monitoring
of all drives / partitions except C has been turned off.

I think the problem reported with System Restore may mean that you are
not able to restore to a point before CyberScrub was installed but see
if there are any points before that occurred.

The Application hang for Quicken is not germane to the main problem.

The problem with chkdsk is a worry.

Try running HD Tune(freeware).

Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. You can also do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and
click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents
Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it
is more informative.

What are your anti-virus and anti-spyware arrangements?

Are you correctly reporting the RAM as only 192 mb as this is
insufficient and is surprising for a machine only 2/3 years old?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Hope this helps.

What is your Windows XP CD as it is described on the face of the CD?
Does the CD include SP2?

Sorry, I'm afraid the CD is lost so I can't answer that question

What is your computer make and model? How old is it?

Properties lists it as an Intel Pentium 4CPU, 2.40 GHz with 192 MB of
RAM. It's about two or so years old.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear
in a previous boot.

Here's the list - I hope there aren't too many duplications as you
requested. The ones before 4:23 occurred before I booted my computer
early this morning just after 4:00 am: -
