Unfortunately my system restore was switched off. Also the problem seemed to
run deeper than just the taskbar as I had other problems so eventually backed
up everything and did a full restore. PC is running a-ok now thanks

a system restore to the date
prior to installing it will
bring you back to normal or
a repair installation with your
windows cd may be needed.

I've tried installing Incredimail and hd problems installing it, it wouldn't
finish the installation. I then decided not to go ahead with it rather than
cause problems. I used the 'remove programs' option in the control pannel as
it had installed some but not all of the components. Since this I've noticed
problems with the running of my PC. My desktop backgrounds now will not stay
up for long, they switch to a blank screen, even though if I go into
properties it shows my background is there, but not showing on the desktop.
Also I've tried installing another program since but again it froze on
installing. I believe Incredimail caused some kind of damage to Windows XP,
I've had my PC for a few years now and never had a problem. Unfortunately I
went to use System Restore but this was turned off. Is there anyway of
repairing Windows XP without doing a complete clean install?
