MS .NET Framework SP1 Updates Fail Install

OK, I have tried several times but the following update download but
*always* fail to install.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)

Both now say they are downloaded and ready to install.

Questions:

1) I want to delete the downloaded updates. Where are they, how to I
delete them and the entry saying they are downloaded.

2) Any idea why this problem?

Note; I do have these version of .NET installed, the above updates are
not listed in Add/Remove (were not installed after all).

I know how to manually download the updates via. MS Security Bulletin
Search, so I can get them that way.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I don't have time to search
now.
