It takes 10 minutes to boot up my system. An IBM 2.8 Ghz with 1 GB ram.
After it boots it takes another 4 minutes to log in and use my computer.
The
performance of the CPU runs from 80% to 100%. I have installed McAfee
And things run a little better, but not much.
What should I be aware of or do before I flatten my O.S. and start over
from scratch?

Recently it has gotten very slow...and I notice when I boot up, it only displays 128 MB of RAM when booting, but when I go into System Properties, it still shows 512 MB or RAM...what is going on here????? ... The general rule with ram is you can run faster ram than you need, just usually wastes money that faster RAM costs. ... That jumper should reset the BIOS to factory defaults to allow it to get through the post and into setup. ... I know this isn't a FreeBSD question really, but I just started up a motherboard with onboard SCSI, and for some odd reason it freezes pre-POST before it attempts to boot and there isn't any way where I can get into the BIOS to change the settings it seems. ...
