Re: How do I turn off the little info boxes that appear on mouseov

SG,
You have to be kidding. Microsoft is bloated and that is the problem. They
send software to the marketplace before it is completely vetted and we end up
dealing with constant annoyances such as these balloons. The balloons are a
clear indication of how careless they are with their software design to make
their stock price grow. Why do we need to have Microsoft tell us we are
pointing at an MSWord document when the item the mouse is pointing at is an
MSWord symbol? And your comment suggests that I am the only one who has
complained about this. Search "balloon" on this discussion board and you will
find posts that go back years..

Hi Mark,

Well at least they did include a feature to turn them off, right?
Think about what you said, and I do understand your frustration, but if MS
could possibly think about what all users would like then Windows would be
so bloated, more so than it already is, we wouldn't even have a operating
system :>)

If they added everything you would like to have, even the simple things, and
you multiply that by the millions of users, can you imagine what Windows
would look like today. Again I understand your frustration, but I think they
have done a great job over the years and they do listen.

I can not believe that Microsoft included this feature with out a toggle
switch. These balloon tips are useless 99% of the time and annoying 100%
of
the time. And the only way to eliminate them is to hack their program or
download a routine from a source I do not know. Pure Microsoft and pure
Bill
Gates. I suggest Microsoft add a way to turn off these annoying ballons.

I'm talking about when I have WinExplorer open and whenever my mouse
pointer hovers over a file a little yellowish window pops up telling
me about the file. I dont want this, is there a way to turn that off?
I have XP setup to display in classic mode if that makes a difference
(dont like rounded corners). Stuff drives me nuts
