Items above the start button

Immediately above the start button is the list of programs that are one the PC. Even after you tell it to sort the names into alphabetical order there is always several that always below & aren't in alphabetical order like Windows Media Player & Adobe Photo shop Elements. Why does this happen? Can these names me altered or moved?
