sorry if my story is to long

there was a virus on my computer and norton wasnt much of a help, so i
decided to re-store(reboot) my computer to factory settings.
so i restored it and now i cant even connect to the internet, the (loca
area
connection) connection is missing, and some others stuff.
so i took it to comp usa to get it fixed. I told them my problem and so
one
of the workers told me to go onto microsoft and download programs off the
site cuz i was missing certain things he said it was deleted while i
re-stored it.
Then i asked him if he could tell me what programs i will need to download
but he would'nt tell me.
so please help me
what are the programs i have to download?
