Hi,
I am not a computer expert, I know a bit, but not techy stuff. Please bear this in mind when offering advice. ie: Imagine you are talking step by step to an idiot.
Anyway, Can you talk me through deleting EVERYTHING from my hard drive and then re installing windows.
Or should I just buy a new hard drive and install windows on it?
I have an external hard drive where I have copied everything I want to keep.
Thank you.
After backing up any data you wish to transfer to the new OS installation,, simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Then the backed up data can be restored and applications re-installed.
