I have this message on my other pc but don't have cd rom as was
already installed onto it....

As far as the Windows XP CD - you do need one in order to get to
the recovery console in most cases. However - just about ANY
Windows XP CD will do in this case - although I suggest using at
least one of the same version (Home, Professional, etc.)

You have to actually follow the procedures laid out in the article I linked
you to. You do not have log into Windows XP (at first) to start following
the instructions. You have to boot with the Windows XP CD (after setting
your system BIOS to boot from there first) and then continue to follow along
with the instructions on that page.

Use your other computer (whatever you are using now) to keep the
instructions up.
