I have this message on my other pc but don't have cd rom as was
already installed onto it....

As far as the Windows XP CD - you do need one in order to get to the
recovery console in most cases. However - just about ANY Windows XP CD will
do in this case - although I suggest using at least one of the same version
(Home, Professional, etc.)
