Cannot ping my own IP address or browse Internet

My daughter's laptop, running XP Home, started not allowing her to access
secure sites. It would come up "page cannot be displayed" for every secure
site. She was running IE6 so I upgraded her to IE7 so I could compare all of
her settings to mine. Now every single web page comes up "Internet Explorer
cannot display the webpage".
Here is what I have found so far:
1. If I disable her wireless connection and hardwire her into the router
with Cat 5 cable it makes no difference.
2. When I do an ipconfig /all her "Node Type" comes up mixed while working
ones come up hybrid
3. She can ping remote internet addresses - e.g. she gets a valid ping for
208.176.137.34 and 24.172.148.91
4. She can ping the router (192.168.10.1) and the other laptop
(192.168.10.3) but she cannot ping herself (192.168.10.2).
5. She can ping both localhost and 127.0.0.1
6. My laptop can ping her laptop.
7. If I run Network Diagnostics on her system, checking all settings except
verbose, it fails in 2 places - first is in Network Adapters where it says
her Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card shows "Failed" because the
IPAddress of 192.168.10.2 shows failed. The second place it fails is almost
the reverse in that it is under IP Address where is shows that the Dell
Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card shows "Failed".
Any suggestions?
