RE: VM Pagefile Issue

The Custom radio button was selected. I did check all that. Usually when I
get this error message I do just expand the pagefile and everything's okay.
But no matter what I set the custom size to, 0MB is what it says is
allocated. Still Stumped, but thanks for the tip.

I am helping someone fix their machine that is getting a message about the
pagefile being too full. The machine is running XP Professional, so I went
into the performance options tab in the My Computer Advanced Properties tab.
I had her set the pagefile to 2048 MB min and 3096MB Max. However in the
bottom of that window there is information about the page file such as:
Minum Allowed: 2MB
Recommended: 1150 MB
Currently Allocated: 0MB
I have never seen the currently Allocated at 0MB before. The settings are
2048 and 3096 for the Minimum and the Maximum PF, and I've even rebooted
after setting them that high, and she's still getting the same error. What
could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Right click "My Computer", select properties from the drop down list.
On the System Properties click on Advanced Tab then on Performance Button.
On Performance Options Windows locate the Virtual Memory Header and click on
Change Button.
On Virtual Memory window make sure the Primary Partition is
Highlighted/Selected under Drive [ Volume Label] as folllow:

Drive [ Volume Label] Paging File Size (MB)

C: <- make sure this Highlighted
D:
E:
F:
etc....

Paging file size for selected drive:

Drive: C:
Space available: 7313MB or whatever size on your machine.

(*) Custom size: <- select this Radio Button
Initial size (MB): [ 460 ]
Maximum size (MB):[720 ]

( ) System Managed size
( ) No Paging file

You may have the above Radio button selected ( No Paging file), please
uncheck if it is.
