You are going to have to not only map a drive, but explicitly share it for
each user backing up to the folder.

Thanks for the ideas Mark but when I add Simple File Sharing to my folder
options, I am given a message that access is denied on the system when trying
to even map to the drive. Again, I am using an account that has
administrator rights on both computers. Now when trying to map, it does not
allow me to connect with any username I choose, it only has Guest (and this
account is disabled). I have to leave the simple file sharing deselected.
Let me give you a little more background: I am in a corporate office using a
domain. The computers that I am attempting to run the backup utility on are
in remote locations and are setup in workgroups. Each location has their own
workgroup with 6 computers. One has a backup share and another one is
attempting to backup to it. I can remote into each PC using either
Netmeeting or Remote Desktop. We need to be able to map drives which we
can't when Simple File Sharing is selected.
I can use the backup utility from my XP Pro PC to a Windows 2000 share but
not to another XP Pro share.
Thanks for any other ideas!

The shared folder probably lacks Permissions for the backed up System. The
Network location might not be a system using "Simple File Sharing".

I am trying to use the backup utility that is built into XP Pro to backup
files (that I select-not system state, etc, just my docs and the Outlook PST)
to a network share on another XP Pro computer. It gives me an error that the
backup file could not be used. Make sure it is a valid path and that you have
sufficient access. I am signed on with an account that has administrator
priviledges on both computers. I have also added this account to the Backup
Operators group. I can run the backup utility and backup to a place on its
own hard drive to not to a place shared on the network.
Can anyone tell me why?
